Hammerman Ruby Diamond Convertible Drop Earrings

Transformable jewelry is currently a popular trend in the jewelry industry, however by no means a new concept. Multi-use modular pieces that can be broken down into smaller adornments have been widely popular at various times throughout the 20th century. The American jewelry house was founded in New York in 1946 and has always had a propensity for luxury convertible jewels. Crafted in 18K yellow gold and platinum in the 21st century, circa 2010s, the clip-back earrings are set with 40 oval rubies with an approximate weight of 16 carats and 70 mix-shaped diamonds with an approximate weight of 21 carats of F-G colors and VS clarity. The clever design which detaches in the middle allows the wearer to create three different looks: a sensational drop consisting of both parts, a smaller round button ear clip, and a long oval ear clip. The rubies are not certified but estimated to be of Burmese origin.

The versatility is appealing—both to minimalists looking to pare down their collections to fabulous essentials, and to maximalists, looking to expand their horizons.
