Contemporary Diamond Sapphire Topaz Articulated Bracelet

This Contemporary Diamond, Sapphire, and Topaz Articulated Bracelet, made in the 21st century, 2010, pays homage to a streamlined and luxuriant design from the Art Deco period, engineered for its time and immensely popular in the 1920s The bracelet is crafted in 18K white gold and composed of four articulated links or plaques set with varying sizes of rectangular faceted white topaz, and separated by 10 circular-cut sapphires weighing approximately 7.50 carats total, each surrounded by delicate round halos of pave diamonds weighing approximately 2.00 carats total.

White topaz is a translucent and clear stone that is widely used as an alternative to a diamond. It has an impressive hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, with diamond at the highest rating of 10. The icy white topaz geometric shapes are arranged into a pleasing rhythm reminiscent of a Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) painting. As in his minimalist compositions, the artistic vocabulary employed in the bracelet is reduced to simple geometric elements, with each of four monochromatic identical plaques articulated by two haloed round blue sapphires spacers.
