Description

To say the timeless cabochon emerald is a real gem for the ages is an understatement. Truly a royal stone, the cabochon emerald is one of the oldest and most coveted gemstone shapes, used since ancient Egypt and included in jewels for the pharaohs. Impressive, dazzling, and luxurious, this Vintage Emerald Ruby Diamond Cocktail Bombé Ring, made in the 21st century, circa 2000s, features so many exquisite jewels, it is fit for a queen. Crafted in 18K white gold, the bold ring glows with an oval cabochon green emerald of some significance, measuring approximately 23.88 x 19.20 x 12.10 mm. The emerald is accompanied by report no. 1111652 dated 22 December 2020 from the America Gemological Laboratories (AGL) stating that it is a natural beryl type emerald of Brazilian origin with minor clarity enhancement.

The central stone is set with four dramatic talon prongs, surrounded by a double-halo of pavé diamonds, and further surrounded by a cascade of prong-set rubies, estimated as Burmese, with an approximate weight of 22 carats total. In between the rubies are occasional round diamonds, their modern 18K white gold bezel settings gleaming against the organic forms of the gorgeous deep red stones. Along with their rarity, Burmese rubies have a special historical appeal, like sapphires from Kashmir or emeralds from Colombia. There is a lot of myth around their origin, which makes them more desirable. The most notable Burmese rubies in our recent history perhaps are adorning Queen Elizabeth’s Burmese Ruby Tiara, now part of the spectacular heirloom jewels. A gift of 96 rubies from the people of Burma on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Phillip in 1947 were to protect from 96 diseases (a prophetic gift since the Queen passed away at the age of 96), and finally utilized by the Queen in 1973 for her special tiara created by Garrard featuring heraldic Tudor Roses.

This exquisite ring, with its regal array of gemstones, will catch the eye of jewelry enthusiasts and seasoned collectors alike. The interplay of smooth and faceted, lustered and sparkling, with bold bands of glowing rich jewel tones radiating around every curve, “your eyes will behold the (ring) in its beauty; they will see a land that stretches afar.”

Size US 7; can be resized, albeit with limitations. Oval cabochon green emerald accompanied with an AGL certificate, stating that it's originated from Brazil with minor clarity enhancement.
The rubies are estimated as Burmese with a total weight of 22 carats. Overall weight approx. 30.94 grams, made in 18k white gold; circa 2000.
