This significant Sapphire and Diamond Pavé Cocktail Bombé Ring, made by Spectra Fine Jewelry in the 21st century, circa 2018, features an oval blue sapphire with an estimated weight of 29.83 carats. The sapphire is accompanied by report no. GRS2012-062651, dated 22 June 2012 from Gemresearch Swisslab (GRS), states that it is a natural sapphire of Sri Lanka origin with the indication of heating. Of the three most famous sources of blue sapphire, Sri Lanka (Ceylon) has been the most prolific producer in Kashmir and Myanmar (Burma). Many of the most famous sapphires in the world come from Sri Lanka, including the Star of India, at 563 carats, and the Logan Sapphire, at 423 carats.

The concentric oval facets draw you deep into the stones majesty and reward you with a calming reflecting pool of vibrant blue. The ring looks traditional from afar, but at a closer glance, you can see the modern look that this contemporary piece of fine jewelry exudes. The sapphire is tilted on one side, laying on the finger asymmetrically and overlapping another. So many of Spectra Fine Jewelry’s pieces are traditional, and this makes for an exciting twist on a homage to a classical mounting.

The ring is crafted in platinum, yet four particularly striking 18K yellow gold prongs emerge from a sea of cool pave diamonds to hold the blue gemstone in place. The sapphire is set in an intricately designed mounting with 178 brilliant round diamonds, weighing an estimated 10.39 carats, creating a vertically oriented triple halo-of-sorts swirling around the center stone. The pavé diamonds continue, illuminating the ring shoulders and parting way around the band.

A sapphire has held numerous meanings throughout the ages and has a long history that includes Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, and the Bible, to name a few. In the Middle Ages, the sapphire was associated with royalty and clergy, as its blue symbolized heaven and was thought to impart divine blessings to the wearer. In Ancient Egypt, sapphire was praised for its healing properties. Sapphires were used to treat eye issues, enabling one to “see the truth.” With a sapphire so commanding, measuring 22.80 x 16.78 x 9.55 mm, the beautiful stone seems all-seeing. With this captivating ring on your finger, all eyes will unquestionably be on you.
