Description
This magnificent Pink Sapphire Diamond Halo Engagement Ring by Spectra Fine Jewelry features an intense color that even the Sun King, Louis XIV (1638–1715), would celebrate. Deciding which element is more sumptuous is difficult—the glowing vivid purple-pink sapphire or the gleaming diamond halo. Crafted in 18K white gold in the 21st century, 2020, the dramatic ring features an oval vivid purple-pink sapphire weighing an estimated 10.14 carats. The sapphire is accompanied by reports dated 2018 and 2022 from three laboratories—SSEF, GRS, and AGL—stating that it is a natural corundum vivid or intense purplish pink sapphire of Sri Lankan origin with no indication of thermal treatment. Many aristocrats wore this color, as favored by the Sun King, since it symbolized wealth, class, and privilege during his reign.
Non-heated pink sapphires are rare and valuable as most colored gemstones are commonly heated to modify their appearance and intensify their color. The epitome of femininity and vibrancy, pink sapphires are stunning gemstones with appealing color and inherent excellent light reflection that range from light to dark pink. They can also include secondary hues like purplish pink. Color is the most important factor, with deeper hues like “vivid” or “intense “tending to be more valuable, as represented in this ring. Symbolizing intense love and compassion, pink sapphires are a most romantic stone ideal for engagement rings.
Some of the qualities most frequently associated with the art of the Baroque period (1600-1750) and Louis XIV (1638–1715) can equally be used to describe this ring: grandeur, sensuous richness, drama, vitality, and exuberance. The cut is particularly important in lighter-colored stones, such as the pink sapphire, as it is the main factor affecting how it sparkles. An excellent cut like this will ensure the stone is bright and vibrant. The diamond halo surrounding the richly colored oval modified brilliant/step-cut stone is composed of 12 pear-shape diamonds weighing an estimated 7.14 carats alternating with 12 hexagon-shape baguette diamonds weighing an estimated 1.95 carats, with four rows of rounds cascading part way down the knife-edge band. The diamonds are approximately F-G colors and VS-SI clarity. The gleaming white sunburst halo exudes vitality and grandeur as the light dances in all directions. Like the Baroque period art that finds its highest expression in what only the senses can understand, this ring is the pinnacle of exhuberance and sensuality.
