From a short distance away, this beautiful engagement ring has a classic Mid-Century silhouette reminiscent of a round or princess-cut diamond flanked by two baguettes; but as you get closer, the details unfold. This splendidly designed Spectra Fine Jewelry Diamond Engagement Ring, made in the Contemporary era, circa 2010s, masterfully balances lavish, bordering on Baroque, details with a restrained modern minimalism. The result is a knockout ring with a quiet splendor. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy; it does not boast.”

The engagement ring is crafted in 18K white gold and features a center cushion diamond with an estimated weight of 3.05 carats, flanked by two pear-shape diamonds with pavé diamonds continuing partway around the band. The diamond is accompanied by report no. 6195605285 dated March 20, 2015, from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) stating it is of H color and VS1 clarity. The center stone is held dramatically by 4 pairs of double talon prongs. The cathedral setting vaults the diamond into the air and sets the flanking pear-shapes at angles, intensifying their beautiful sparkle. The pear-shape diamonds are also held with talon prongs, two per stone at the curves and a corner prong to protect the point. The points of the pears lead the eye outwards towards the pavé diamonds on the band which further intensify the brilliance, fire, and scintillation of the entire sparkling presentation.

With its softened rectangular shape, the featured cushion cut lends a lush romanticism to the ring. Thought to have first appeared sometime in the 16th century, the cushion cut enjoyed tremendous popularity throughout the Baroque period (1600-1750). The modern cushion cut is reminiscent of old mine cut diamonds popular during the 18th and 19th centuries, but the modern cushion features updated faceting in two main styles: a brilliant style and a “crushed ice” version. There are many variations of the cushion cut, but the most common versions today have 32 crown facets plus the table. The facets on the pavilion, or bottom of the stone, can vary more greatly with more or less angle variations.

Arguably the most famous cushion cut is the fancy blue 45.52-carat Hope diamond, originally extracted in the 17th century and once owned by King Louis XIV of France. In Hollywood, the cushion cut engagement ring has found appeal with a number of celebrities including Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd, Brittany Murphy, Anne Hathaway, and Angelina Jolie. This engagement ring has all the warmth of the ages with so much sparkle to captivate for eternity. To finish the verse from the first paragraph, “[Love] always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Size US 6, can be resized. Center cushion-cut diamond weight 3.05 carats, H color, VS1 clarity; certified by GIA. Two side pear shape diamonds and pave diamonds half way on the band. Overall weight approx. 3.91 grams, made in 18k white gold. Circa 2010.
