Contemporary Diamond Mixed Metal Two Tone Festoon Bib Necklace

The bib necklace has withstood the test of time, remaining popular throughout history and still prevalent today. The form dates back to Ancient Egypt, revived in numerous variations throughout the last 100 years. This lyrical Diamond Bib Necklace, made in the 21st century, circa 2010s, is exceptionally designed and constructed with a uniquely configured double row of sparkling diamond clusters—composed in alternating motifs and alternating metals that are festooned five times in graduated swoops. The festoons compose the characteristic bib of the necklace which is wider at the front and tapered at the back around the neck. Crafted in 18K white and yellow gold, the necklace features alternating flower and leaf motifs set with diamonds with an estimated total weight of 13.00 carats. The diamonds are not certified and are equivalent to G-H color and VS-SI clarity. The weight of the necklace is 44.27 grams.

Typically a bib necklace makes a bold statement with an arrangement of materials that constitute a broad breastplate or front section. This variation on a theme is, by contrast, delicate, light, and open, like the subject matter it depicts. More to the point, the form of this necklace is reminiscent of an Edwardian garland necklace, composed of draping foliate motifs and sparkling swags. The leaves frame the floral motif which is crafted in contrasting 18K white gold featuring 4 round diamonds held with delicate prongs in a cluster setting. The two motifs are in perfect harmony and relate so well because they both employ the marquise shape, also known as a navette or pointed oval.
