These Art Deco-inspired jewels created by the French Maison that practically defined the period and influenced all the rest are sleek and exciting, like a flapper’s fringe. The Cartier Vintage Diamond Pavé Waterfall Drop Earrings are made in France circa 2000s and display 6 sleek rows of diamonds that dangle at different lengths. The dramatic pair is crafted in platinum and features round brilliant-cut diamonds with an estimated weight of 3.50-4.00 carats total of G-H color, and VS-SI clarity. The earrings are Signed Cartier and numbered with French assay marks for platinum. The serial number will be provided to interested buyers.
The parallel rows of diamonds, pavé-set within platinum channels, cascade from a curve at the earlobe, creating energy to the glamorous design. The pair is composed of mirror image symmetry, framing the wearer’s face elegantly. Just when you think a design could not get more exquisite, upon closer examination, it does. From the reverse, we learn that each row of diamonds is articulated at staggered points. From the front, these points are adorned with curves that encapsulate the flow of diamonds. The articulation of the three strands creates gorgeous scintillation in the diamonds and a sensuous fluidity of movement.
A variation on the chandelier earring, which is classically comprised of three gemstone drops suspended from a single stone or a more elaborate motif at the top, these waterfall drops are more an engineered product of the Machine Age than the form popular during the Georgian period (1714-1830). Myriad styles and motifs characterize Cartier Art Deco jewelry, namely abstract designs, repeating geometric shapes, and formal details inspired by art from China, Egypt, and India. This bracelet is inspired by the former category—stark, abstract, and opulent. Cartier was founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier, and the Maison came to dominate international jewelry design in the early 20th century and create some of the most iconic watches and jewelry pieces under the auspices of his three enterprising sons: Louis Cartier in Paris, Pierre Cartier in New York, and Jacques Cartier in London.
Each earring measures approx. 2.35" (6cm) in length x 0.4" is designed for pierced ears, outfitted with posts and omega clips. Round diamonds weighing approx. 3.50-4.00 carats, estimated G-H colors, VS-SI clarity. Overall weight approx. 28.8 grams, crafted in platinum. Made in France. Signed Cartier with French marks; circa 2000s.
