A vibrant flower in Van Cleef & Arpels’ Flora Collections, Cosmos™ is one of the Maison’s more recognizable signature motifs, dating back to the 1950s. Flowers are a trademark of the Maison and are realized in diamond creations with exquisite craftsmanship that capture both the vitality and delicate nature of each bloom.
The 7th century BCE philosopher, Pythagoras was the first person to call the universe a kosmos, which in Greek means order, arrangement, and beauty. In nature, cosmos flowers share the same meaning, owing to their mathematically harmonious arrangement of eight petals in opposite pairs around a center of disc florets.
In the Van Cleef & Arpels Universe, the Cosmos™ flower has been simplified and stylized with four symmetrical heart-shaped petals to suggest both a flower and a four-leaf clover, paying homage to two of the Maison’s more cherished sources of inspiration, nature and luck.
