One of the largest yellow diamonds ever discovered was originally 287.42 carats in the rough, cut into a cushion shape of 128.54 carats. It once was worn by Audrey Hepburn in publicity photographs for Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961. Yellow diamonds, like the color of the sun, symbolizes hope, happiness, optimism, and energy. These elegant Diamond Halo Drop Earrings made by Spectra Fine Jewelry in the 21st century, circa 2010s, showcase two radiant-cut diamonds set in warm 18k yellow gold each with 4 talon prongs. The diamonds are estimated as 7.01 carats of Y color and VVS2 clarity and 6.78 carats of W color and VS1 clarity, accompanied by reports from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

The cut-cornered rectangular center stones are framed by octagonal diamond double halos comprised of white pavé diamonds mounted in platinum. A single line of pavé diamonds adorns the earring wires, adding to the delicate silhouette and dazzling sparkle. Designed for pierced ears, the symmetrical pair of drop earrings is subtly dramatic, beautifully elongated, and utterly wearable. The details of these drops are geometric yet utterly feminine, with so many types of sparkle all at once from multiple diamond cuts and colors. The radiant cut chosen for the featured stones expresses the nuances in color more fully while capturing light beautifully. Radiant-cut diamonds possess a silhouette very similar to a rectangular emerald shape with cut corners, but its facets are cut in a more similar way to that of round brilliant diamonds. This means that the appearance of the diamond has an effervescent hypnotizing sparkle.

The amount of nitrogen that is in the diamond sets the intensity of the yellow color. A diamond with a higher amount of nitrogen will show a stronger yellow. Diamonds with an S through Z color grade are called “light” and feature a visible yellow tint. The pale color and soft, mellow look of a faintly yellow diamond has pleasant associations, such as flickering romantic candlelight. Their delicate hue and even color distribution brings subtlety, making them well-suited for an opulent pair such as this.

Each earrings measures approx. 1.75" in length and features a fancy yellow radiant cut diamond: 7.01 carat, Y color, VVS2 clarity and a 6.78 carat, W color, VS1 clarity; both certified by GIA. Center diamonds are surrounded by a double halo of pave diamonds. Overall weight approx. 10.84 grams, made in platinum. Circa 2020.
