A classic line bracelet to be worn in or out of the tennis club with this Vintage Mid-Century Sapphire Line Tennis Bracelet, made in the Mid-20th century, circa 1950s. The unbroken flow of sapphires around your wrist would make even Chris Evert pause play to take a closer look. The 7.25 inch long (18.40 cm) bracelet is crafted in platinum and features 27 rectangular sapphires weighing an estimated total of 30.60 carats. Each sapphire weighs approximately 1.13 carat. All sapphires are natural, not certified with the origin unknown.

A tennis bracelet, or eternity bracelet as it was previously known before 1978, is made of a single type of gemstone, most commonly diamonds, set close together to completely encircle the wrist. They were also known as diamond line bracelets, but all that changed when Ms. Evert, the world's No. 1 women’s tennis player at the time, insisted that the chair umpire halt play during an early round tennis match at the US Open when her diamond and gold eternity bracelet came off her wrist. They found it and she won her match too. In an interview following, Chrissie referred to it as her tennis bracelet, and it became an international hit. Chris Evert was already a bit of a tennis fashion icon, known for her feminine look on the court and ladylike baseline game.

Tennis aside for a moment, this fabulously sleek bracelet has an Art Deco look, although made some thirty years later. The sleek and geometric flow of jewels is minimalism at its best, focusing on just two elements: sapphires and platinum, paired together symbiotically and repeating in an identical pattern. The repetition is similar to rhythm, helping to create a sense of movement and unity within the piece. The overall presentation of the channel-set deep blue gems in a flexible box link platinum mounting with no surface adornment on the sides is breathtaking in its starkness. Now imagine layering this piece with a classic emerald-cut white diamond tennis bracelet. Afterall, a blue and white stripe always looks classic and sharp on the courts.

Measures approx. 7.25” (18.40 cm) in length. 27 rectangular sapphires weighing a total of 30.60 carats; weight of each sapphire is 1.13 carat. All sapphires are natural, not certified. The origin is unknown. Overall weight approx. 32.14 grams, made in platinum. Circa 1950s.
