Contemporary Ruby Diamond Constellation Star Moon Pendant Necklace

This whimsical and light-hearted fine jewelry creation is sure to bring a unique sparkle to your every day and night. Made in the 21st century, 2019, the Ruby Diamond Pendant Necklace depicts a charming solar system of stars and moons arranged around a particularly compelling central red planet. Crafted in two golds set with mixed-cut white diamonds weighing an estimated 12 carats total, 18K rose gold stars prong-set with petite round diamonds, and 18K white gold moons bezel-set with variously sized round brilliant-cut diamonds, are gravitationally bound to orbit an oval faceted red ruby with an estimated weight of 1.50 carats. The weight of necklace is 38.82 grams.

Central to both the pendant and the fantastical solar system, the ruby is held with four white gold prongs, accented by an irregular yet proliferating halo of diamonds in its immediate orbit. The 10 stars, depicted as lucky shooting stars with trails, revolve around the ruby in three separate orbits in all the same counterclockwise direction. The rose gold trails are pointed and arced, set with a varying number of round pavé diamonds, ranging from 7 to about 11. In fact the diamonds are graduated, diminishing in size towards the tip, a lovely unexpected detail illustrating the fine artisanship of the piece.

As there is no underlying regularized lattice to hold the structure of the pendant in place, the composition depends largely upon the arced trails of the stars supplemented by the moons that proliferate like delicate bubbles, surreptitiously and organically providing more stability. As such, the piece conveys a feeling that it is ephemeral as space dust, and just as magnificent.

The pendant is suspended by a progression of three mesmerizing step-cut diamonds—two square emerald-cuts with the top one oriented diagonally, and one long baguette. The pattern in the chain flows out in opposite directions from the square diamond, changing the gravitational pull, but that’s perfectly okay. We are not bound by science in this universe, just fabulous sparkling design.
