Description
Like a bouquet of flowers, this ring could not be more sweet, sincere, and uplifting. Encoded in the tightly packed composition, there is an eagerness—an earnestness to express boundless love for the wearer. The Adamas Multi-Color Sapphire and Diamond Bombé Ring is made in Italy in the 21st century, circa 2010s, crafted in 18K white gold and features multi-color round brilliant-cut sapphires and semi-precious stones weighing an estimated total of 40.67 carats, along with round pavé diamonds weighing an estimated total of 0.31 carat. Adamas Milano has existed in the historic center of Milan since 1960. Today, run by the second generation, Cristiano Baccarini who has taken up his father’s legacy, the house is still known for their jewel-centric sculptural compositions that convey joy and abundance.
The colorful sapphires and semi-precious stones which sparkle in two sizes in all the colors of the rainbow—blue, green, violet, yellow, orange, and red—depict the cheerful flowers in the bouquet. They are densely set in a domed configuration, or bombé style, with shared prongs. The bombé style (French, meaning ‘bomb-shaped’ and named for the French dessert, bombe glacée or ice cream bomb) offers a pleasingly rounded, attention-grabbing shape with more surface area for embellishment. Beneath the dome is a glimpse at the fine artisanship of Adamas Milano in their stone setting and master goldsmithing techniques. The volume of the dome is hollowed out with cutouts behind the stones, allowing light in to enhance their sparkle. The dome is finished with an openwork flower petal pattern that charmingly reinforces the theme. The wide band of the ring is partially embellished with 5 rows of micro pavé diamonds displayed within a stylized shape that ends in a curve, with the interior of the band likewise displaying shaped cutouts.
All sapphires are a variety of the mineral corundum, an aluminum oxide, with a hardness of 9 out of 10 on the Mohs scale. Sapphire is generally known as a blue gemstone but surprisingly it comes in a wide range of color variations. In general, the more intense and uniform the color is, the more valuable the stone. Sapphires that are not blue are known as fancy sapphires and may be any color—except red (which is a ruby). It is small amounts of trace elements present during the formation of the corundum, over thousands of years that give the sapphire its specific color. In the case of pinks and purples, one of the primary elements is chromium, the same which colors a ruby. The fancy sapphire colors are pink, orange, yellow, green, purple, and violet and this ring has excellent representation of each, including classic blue. These sapphires have exceptional brilliance, luster, and fire especially evident in the lighter shades. The retail price of the ring was originally $24,567.
Size US 6.5, can be resized. Total weight of the sapphires and semi-precious stones is 40.67 carats. Total weight of round diamonds is 0.31 carats. Overall weight approx. 15.63 grams, made in 18k white gold. Made in Italy, Signed Adamas; circa 2010. Retail price is $24,567.
